Sausages in white wine sauce

Some weeks ago I had a lovely evening with two of my best friends, and they offered us a nice dinner at their place. She prepared a salad and then sausages in white wine sauce. Then I remembered that my grandma used to prepare them as well like this. But the complete surprise came when I tasted them again. What a surprising texture and what a terrific flavor. Because of the wine, the sausages become more tender than with any other preparation. It literally melts in your mouth! And what to say about the sauce: onion, delicate white wine and a subtle sweet flavor. Delightful. I hope you try them out, because on top of being delicious, they are amazingly easy to be prepared. Enjoy!

Ingredients for 4 people:

-16 fresh sausages (if you don't find those at your place, try to get the most similar product)
-1 big onion
-2 glasses of white wine (circa 350 ml)
-2 tbsp olive oil
-1 tbsp sugar
-1 bay leave
-salt

Directions:

1-Cut the onion into thick slices / rings. Warm a pot with the oil and the onions. Add a pinch of salt and the bay leave. Cook at medium heat until the onion is translucent.
2-Add the sausages and give it a stir until the sausages get some color. Add the wine and sugar. Let it cook with the lid on for about 20-25 min at medium heat. Cook with the lid off for 5 more minutes.
